Abstract
|
|
|
Fifty six cases of RH-787 intoxication were obser ved clinically at the Department of Internal Medicine, Chungnam National University Hospital since October, 1976 to July, 1977 th the following results.
1) The observed patients were 20 males and 36 females, with the most prevalent age group of 3rd (30.4%) to 4th (25.0%) decade.
2) The ingested dose of the rodenticides were 25gm of 2% RH-787 in half of the patients, with the range from 8.3 to 180 gm.
3) The total cases were classified according to the main clinical findings as follows;
i) Nonspecific group (Group I) was 26.8% (15 cases), who showed nonspecific symptom and signs only.
ii) Diabetic group (Group II) was 46.4% (26 cases) who had clinically evident diabetes with or without diabetic complication.
iii) Neuropathy group (Group lll) was 12.5% (7 cases) who had clinical neurologic symptom and signs such as sensory change, motor disturbance etc. without diabetes.
iv) The remainder (Group 11) 8 cases had the symptom and signs of the pancreatitis (5 cases) and parotitis (3 cases).
4) The diabetic patients showed variable responses to insulin therapy which could be seen in juve-
